Disability Confidence
What the Disability Confident scheme means for you, and how to find these employers’ jobs on Jobnetwork UK.
The right role is out there — let's find it together.
What is Disability Confident?
Disability Confident is a UK Government scheme that helps employers recruit and keep disabled people and people with long-term health conditions. Employers who join promise to interview disabled applicants who meet the minimum job criteria, think about what support their staff need, and challenge unfair attitudes.
The three levels
Committed — the employer has signed up to the scheme’s promises.
Employer — the employer actively offers interviews and support.
Leader — the employer goes further, shaping best practice and supporting others.
Why it matters for you
A Disability Confident employer is more likely to offer reasonable adjustments — like extra interview time, accessible buildings or flexible hours — and has promised to interview you if you meet the essential criteria. It doesn’t mean the job is only for disabled people; it means the employer actively welcomes disabled applicants.
How to find these jobs on Jobnetwork UK
Look for the “Disability Confident” badge — when a job advert mentions the scheme, the badge appears next to the job title in search results and on the job page.
Search as usual by job type and town — matching adverts are labelled automatically.
You can also use the “Disability & mental health friendly” supported search from the home page.
Your rights
Under the Equality Act 2010, all employers must make reasonable adjustments so disabled people are not disadvantaged — whether or not they are in the scheme. You never have to tell an employer about a disability if you don’t want to, but sharing it can unlock support. For free advice, talk to ACAS or Disability Rights UK.
